Top 10 Most Flood Prone Provinces of the Philippines

Map showing the top 10 most flood prone provinces of the Philippines. This map is really helpful especially to those who want to pick a good location for whatever purpose they have in mind. This map shows the most flood prone provinces but it doesn't really mean that all territories within that province is highly susceptible to flooding. It just happened that that province has more areas with a high chance of flooding as compared to other provinces in the country.

Philippine Local Government Map

This map shows the Philippines up to the municipal or city level. Municipalities are one of the lowest levels of political organization in the Philippines second only to Barangays. A city is simply a municipality that has upgraded its status and achieved cityhood because it was able to satisfy the two criteria set by the constitution in turning municipalities to cities. The first criteria is that a municipality must have an annual generating income of at least 100,000,000.00 pesos for the last two consecutive years (year 2000 prices). The second criteria is that that same municipality must have at least 100 square kilometers of land area OR a population of at least 150,000 persons. A city or municipality is headed by an elected mayor and a vice mayor.

The divisions in the map represent municipal/city divisions. Neighboring or clusters of  municipalities/cities having the same color indicate that they belong to the same province. A city/municipality having a darker shade of the same color in each cluster indicate that it is the capital city/municipality of that province.
